As a professional educator, you should maintain information related to your employment. The following checklist will help you keep your important records and documents organized. Begin each year by reviewing the content of your professional file and add appropriate information as you gather it. It is also a good idea to check the information on your pay stub, as well as personal and sick leave. You can find your pay stub on the LPS website under Employee Online.
- Your teaching certificate / license
- Transcripts of course work and degrees
- Records of job-related conferences and workshops attended
- Your employment contract and supplemental contracts, including individual contracts if applicable
- District salary schedule
- A copy of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Board policies / personnel policies that affect you directly in your job
- Letters of hire
- Annual salary notification
- Records of leave accrual and use
- Evaluations
- Commendations, honors and awards
- Annual teaching schedules
- Committee work
- Any personal correspondence from your employer to you
- Records of all incidents involving the discipline or referral of students
- Records of parent conferences that could have some future implication for you
